A bride stunned her wedding guests when she chose to read out text messages revealing her fiancé’s affair instead of sharing her vows during the ceremony.
Your wedding day is meant to be the most joyous day of your life.
But that’s only truly the case if you’re absolutely certain that you’re marrying the right person.
So, when one bride discovered that her fiancé wasn’t the person she thought he was, she chose to take revenge at the most uncomfortable moment possible.
As the vows were about to begin, she stood up and, instead of sharing a heartfelt declaration of love, she read out text messages exposing her fiancé’s infidelity…
A bride, using the pseudonym Casey, recounts her startling story in a personal essay for Body+Soul.
In her account, she reveals how her fiancé, Alex (also a pseudonym), betrayed her by having an affair in the weeks leading up to their wedding.
Even more shockingly, Casey didn’t learn about the affair from Alex himself. Instead, it was the mistress who contacted her, sending provocative screenshots of the messages exchanged with her lover.
One provocative screenshot reads, “This weekend. You and I. It is on, hot stuff. Bring your A game.”
Another screenshot says, “Your body is f*ing incredible. And st, do you know how to use it. I wish my GF had half the skills you do.”
A third screenshot reads, “I miss you so much. I can’t stop thinking about L, S, F’ing you. I’ve never had this kind of connection before.”
Along with these heartwrenching screenshots, the mistress also included a blunt message.
“I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?” the mistress asked.
Casey was left shocked and humiliated by the texts.
She says, “My girls were threatening all sorts of violence against him. They insisted I call him immediately and cancel the wedding.
“But I loved Alex. I wanted to marry him tomorrow. I was too shocked and heartbroken to be angry. I didn’t call him.”
It was then that she devised her ultimate revenge.
“When dawn finally broke, I woke up the girls and told them my decision – I was going to go ahead with the wedding as planned, and ‘out’ him in front of our friends and family,” she continues.
So, on the day of the wedding, Casey stood up and exposed Alex’s secret to everyone.
“It seems Alex is not who I thought he was,” she told the crowd. “I love all of you, and as horrible as this is, I’m glad you’re all here.”
“There will not be a wedding reception today,” she declared, “but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love, and following your heart, even when it hurts.”
She then read the messages aloud, as the groom fled the scene, followed by the best man.
Casey concludes, “It was certainly not the wedding day I had planned, but to our credit, it was one hell of a party.”
