The former N-Dubz star and X-Factor judge has publicly identified as demisexual.
Tulisa rose to fame in the late 2000s as a member of the hip-hop group N-Dubz, celebrated for hits like “I Need You” and “Ouch.”
She later achieved solo success with her debut studio album, The Female Boss, which included the U.K. chart-topping single “Young.”
In addition to her music career, Tulisa made her mark in showbiz as a judge on The X Factor from 2011 to 2012.
After spending years away from the spotlight, the singer has recently returned to television, embracing a more open and candid approach than ever before.
Tulisa is currently competing in Season 24 of the hit survival reality show Iโm a Celebrityโฆ Get Me Out of Here! The series challenges celebrities to live together in extreme conditions, often facing their fears with plenty of creepy crawlies along the way.
Prior to joining Iโm a Celebrityโฆ Get Me Out of Here!, the Live It Up singer had shared her plans to step away from show business entirely.
On Fearne Cotton’s Happy Place podcast, Tulisa opened up about her plans to leave the entertainment industry, saying (per MailOnline):
โThe music industry is wild; it is ridiculous. Iโm through most of it. Iโll be out in two years from now. Iโm going into property next year.
โI think Iโll always come back for N-Dubz. But I think the person Iโve become, Iโm a public figure that doesnโt really like being in the public eye.โ
She also shared her vision of creating themed rental properties inspired by fantasy genres, mentioning ideas like Game of Thrones-style designs.
โSo, yeah, thatโs my plan for 2024. Iโm absolutely buzzing,โ she added enthusiastically.
Now, Tulisa has shared insights about her sexuality during her appearance on Iโm a Celebrityโฆ Get Me Out of Here!
Tulisa shared that she needs “to have a really close emotional bond with someone” before feeling any sexual attraction.
โFor me, itโs all about the connection and the emotions that I feel with someone and then wanting to express them in that way,โ she explained.
What Tulisa described aligns with demisexuality, a s*xual orientation where a person only experiences sexual attraction after forming a deep emotional connection.
WebMD explains demis*xuality as follows:
โWhen youโre demis*xual, you need an emotional connection to someone before you can feel sexually attracted to them. You may identify as gay, straight, bis*xual, demiromantic, sapios*xual, gray-as*xual, or pans*xual. Demis*xuality can align with any gender identity.โ
Since Tulisa shared that she identifies as demisexual, fans have flooded X (formerly Twitter) with messages of support.
One fan wrote: โLike I couldnโt adore this f***ing queen more, Tulisa saying she thinks she might be demisexual is EVERYTHING!โ
Another fan added: โRunning to X to share my excitement over Tulisa sharing sheโs demisexual and on national TV!โ
โActually love Tulisa for talking about being demisexual,โ someone else enthused.
