Recently, Miley shared yet another deeply personal revelation, opening up about a significant aspect of her life.

In an interview with Variety, Miley spoke openly about coming to terms with her sexuality and gender identity, ultimately identifying as pansexual.

Her journey of self-discovery began at a young age, even as she navigated the pressures of life in the spotlight.

“My whole life, I didnโ€™t understand my own gender and my own sexuality,” Miley confessed, reflecting on the confusion she felt as a child.

She shared that it was during her time on Hannah Montana that she began to question everything.

โ€œMy eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade. My first relationship in my life was with a girl,โ€ Miley shared.

She also explained that she has never felt comfortable with labels, rejecting the term โ€˜bisexualโ€™ because it felt too restrictive for her.

โ€œMy eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade. My first relationship in my life was with a girl,โ€ Miley shared.

She also explained that she has never felt comfortable with labels, rejecting the term โ€˜bisexualโ€™ because it felt too restrictive for her.

“I’ve always disliked the word ‘bisexual,’ because it feels like it’s putting me in a box. I donโ€™t think about people as just being a boy or a girl,” she said, emphasizing that sheโ€™s attracted to people regardless of gender.

It wasnโ€™t until she visited an LGBTQ+ center in Los Angeles that Miley found a label that truly resonated with her.

“I met one person there who didnโ€™t identify as male or female,” she explained.

“Looking at them, they were everything: beautiful and sexy, tough yet vulnerable, feminine but masculine. I related to that person more than Iโ€™ve ever related to anyone in my life.”

This experience helped Miley gain a deeper understanding of both her gender and her sexuality.

“Once I understood my gender better, which felt unassigned, I began to understand my sexuality more. I was like, ‘Oh โ€” thatโ€™s why I donโ€™t feel straight and I donโ€™t feel gay. Itโ€™s because Iโ€™m not.'”

While her journey brought clarity, it also helped heal relationships within her family.

Miley shared a heartfelt moment with her mother, who had struggled to understand her daughter’s identity when she was younger.

She recalled a touching experience during her time as a mentor on The Voice, when a young contestant thanked her for inspiring them to have the courage to come out.

“My mom started crying. She said, ‘Iโ€™m so sorry for how I was when you were that age and coming out.’ She never understood me until she saw that girl who couldnโ€™t be herself. It was really special,” Miley shared.

Today, Miley proudly identifies as pansexual, explaining that her attraction is rooted in emotional connection rather than gender.

Her openness has garnered widespread support from fans, many of whom view her as a trailblazer for LGBTQ+ visibility and acceptance.
