An influencer has died after being paid to drink a bottle of whiskey.
A tragic event occurred in Thailand when 21-year-old influencer Thankam Kanthee, popularly known online as “Bank Leicester,” lost his life after taking on a dare to drink a full bottle of whiskey.
The challenge, reportedly for a reward of 30,000 Thai baht (around $875), ended in Kanthee’s untimely death due to alcohol poisoning.
Thankam Kanthee, widely recognized for taking on extreme dares to support his family financially, had previously completed challenges like consuming hand sanitizer and eating excessive amounts of wasabi.
On the night of December 26, during a birthday celebration in Chanthaburi, Kanthee faced a fatal challenge: drinking an entire 350ml bottle of alcohol in one go.
Partygoers reportedly cheered and laughed as they encouraged him to complete the dangerous task, unaware of the tragic consequences that would follow.
However, the atmosphere quickly shifted when Kanthee began vomiting shortly after completing the challenge, signaling the onset of a grim and tragic outcome.
At around 3:40 a.m. local time, Kanthee lost consciousness.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but despite the efforts of medical staff, they were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Kanthee’s tragic passing has left his social media followers in shock and grief, many of whom admired his daring stunts and relentless drive to support his family.
One fan expressed sorrow, writing: โI feel sorry for you, brother. The person who let you drink alcohol must be guilty forever.โ
Another heartfelt comment read: โRest in peace, Bank. I wish you get justice. At least there must be someone to take care of grandmother instead of you as you wanted. RIP.โ
Authorities in Chanthaburi have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Thankam Kantheeโs death.
The inquiry has centered on Ekkachart “Em” Meephrom, the organizer of the birthday party where the fatal incident took place.
Meephrom now faces charges of causing death through negligence, a violation of Thailandโs penal code that carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine of 200,000 baht, or both.
According to police reports, Ekkachart “Em” Meephrom voluntarily surrendered and admitted to the charges against him.
The local court denied his request for bail, and he is currently being held in custody for at least 12 days as investigations continue.
The party, where the tragic incident occurred, was reportedly organized to celebrate Meephromโs mother the day after Christmas.
