Jason Kelce got ‘lucky’ luchador mask off 8th grader – but now he wants it back

Jason Kelce brought laughter to many when he was seen wearing a luchador mask during the Super Bowl evening.

A family has recently stepped forward asserting ownership of the Chiefs-themed mask worn by Jason Kelce, expressing their desire to have it returned.

The Kelce family has been attracting attention lately, with Travis making headlines for dating Taylor Swift and clinching a Super Bowl victory, while Jason stands out as a remarkable sportsman and the apparent heart of any celebration.

Following their Super Bowl triumph, the Kansas City Chiefs and their loved ones celebrated into the night, as one would expect after winning the world’s biggest sporting event.

However, for Jason, the night appeared to fall short of expectations… until he stumbled upon a luchador mask.

During a recent episode of their podcast “New Heights,” Jason, aged 36, revealed that he discovered the mask on the dance floor in Las Vegas on Sunday night.

He elaborated on the significance of the mask, expressing, “It didnโ€™t start getting to the next level until I found that luchador mask. Thereโ€™s something about finding that luchador mask that really just transformed the night.”

However, the mask’s purported rightful owner, Elijah Smith, an 8th grader and devoted Chiefs fan from Dallas, asserts that he gave Kelce the mask after taking a picture together. Yet, amid the jubilation, the mask was never returned to Elijah.

“I saw videos on Instagram this week of him wearing it at the next afterparty he went to, so he clearly never took it off the whole night,” Elijah told NBC.

The Smith family is resolute about reclaiming their cherished possession before the next season commences.

They emphasize that their mask is easily identifiable, adorned with an autograph from Chiefs player Trent McDuffie from last year’s Super Bowl afterparty. This signature imbues the mask with immense sentimental value for them, elevating it to the status of a cherished good luck charm.

Thad Smith, Elijah’s father, voiced their plea, expressing, “Last year when I wore it in Arizona, I feel like every single time I put it on we would score a touchdown.”

However, despite their desire to have the mask returned, the family holds no ill will towards Jason for enjoying the mask during the festivities.

Sarah Smith, reflecting on the jubilant ambiance, expressed, “He radiated happiness and excitement. The celebration was vibrant, filled with dancing and jubilation. It was impossible not to share in the excitement.”

As the Smiths hold onto hope for the mask’s return, Elijah chimed in, saying, “It would be quite amazing if he signed it and sent it back.”

Even Patrick Mahomes weighed in on Jason’s antics at the party, sharing with Good Morning America, “I spotted Jason, and he truly lit up the atmosphere. Those Kelce brothers, they know how to bring the party wherever they go.”

Let’s hope Elijah gets his mask back soon!
