Jonah Hill Has Legally Changed His Last Name

Like many actors, The Wolf of Wall Street star has used a stage name in his career.

It’s common among celebrities for A-listers to choose eccentric titles that are quite different from their actual names.

This is especially true for Reginald Kenneth Dwight, better known as pop legend Elton John, and Farrokh Bulsara, famously known as Queen’s Freddie Mercury.

On the other hand, some, like Breaking Bad actor Aaron Paul, who was born Aaron Paul Sturtevant, prefer much simpler changes.

However, unlike many other A-listers, Hill has never publicly explained his choice to use a stage name.

In an interview with The Guardian, the star reportedly fell silent for a few seconds when asked about it, before responding: โ€œCan we just not? Justโ€ฆ donโ€™t.โ€

This isnโ€™t the only change Hill has made in recent years.

In addition to changing his name, the Donโ€™t Look Up star has announced that he will no longer be promoting the films he works on.

Hill made this decision after the release of his highly praised Netflix documentary Stutz.

In an open letter released by Deadline, the actor revealed that media appearances and public events have significantly intensified his anxiety attacks.

He stated, โ€œYou wonโ€™t see me promoting this film, or any of my upcoming projects, as I take this crucial step to safeguard my well-being.โ€

โ€œIf I were to worsen my condition by promoting it, I wouldnโ€™t be staying true to myself or to the film.โ€

Amid this revelation, Page Six reported that Hill further distanced himself from fans by deleting his Instagram account.

Although Hill won’t be promoting his films for the foreseeable future, he has reportedly decided to officially adopt his stage name.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Hillโ€”born Jonah Hill Feldsteinโ€”filed a petition in Los Angeles in November 2022 to legally remove “Feldstein” from his name, officially becoming Jonah Hill.

The documents reportedly indicate that the star wanted his stage name to become his legal name, as he has been using it publicly for years.

The Blast reports that the approved petition states: โ€œThe petition is granted. Once the proposed decree is signed, it cannot be amended without a new petition to change the name.โ€

Hill inherited the Feldstein surname from his father, Richard, who, according to Today, is a Hollywood business manager and has advised stars like Kate Hudson and Adam Levine.

Unlike Hill, who has chosen not to use the Feldstein name, his sister Beanie Feldsteinโ€”known for her roles in Booksmart and Lady Birdโ€”continues to use it in her career.
