Chloë Grace Moretz has shared a heartfelt post on social media.
Moretz, 27, began her acting career as a child, with early roles in the horror film The Amityville Horror and the popular drama series Desperate Housewives.
Her breakout role came in 2010 when she portrayed Hit-Girl in the superhero film Kick-Ass.
Now, Moretz has established a successful career in Hollywood, appearing in numerous blockbuster hits.
With a substantial fanbase supporting her and the 2024 presidential election on the horizon, the actress has chosen to publicly share her sexuality.
Unlike many celebrities, Moretz has maintained a relatively normal life away from the limelight. However, she was previously in a high-profile relationship with Brooklyn Beckham.
The actress first became linked to Beckham in 2014 and, in an interview with Teen Vogue, she stated, “What I find really interesting about Brooklyn—and what I truly love about him—is his passion for becoming a professional soccer player. I appreciate being with someone who shares my level of seriousness.”
Later that year, she sidestepped a question about their relationship status during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
Moretz responded, “He’s a very good guy and a good person; I enjoy hanging out with him.”
When host Andy Cohen inquired if she preferred not to label their relationship, she playfully replied, “Maybe…”
Two years later, Moretz returned to Watch What Happens Live and officially confirmed that she was dating Beckham.
She stated, “We’re in a relationship; it’s fine, it’s no big deal. The more I don’t treat it seriously, the less people care, so yes, we’re in a relationship.”
Until 2018, the couple seemed to have an on-and-off relationship.
Beckham has been married to actress Nicola Peltz since 2022. Meanwhile, Moretz has been romantically linked to model Kate Harrison for over five years.
The two frequently share photos of each other on Instagram, and in June 2023, the Greta star posted a picture of them together at a march for gay women in New York City.
Moretz addressed her sexual orientation while portraying a gay teenager forced into a conversion therapy camp in the 2018 drama The Miseducation of Cameron Post.
While promoting the film, the actress spoke to Deadline and expressed that she has been an “activist” for the LGBTQIA+ community since she was “a little girl.”
She also expressed irritation when a reporter from The Independent mentioned that she was referenced in an article about straight actors playing LGBTQIA+ characters.
“Oh really?” Moretz asked, laughing nervously. “Well, I think what’s important is not to assume anyone’s sexuality. I mean, across the board… don’t assume.”
She continued, “I think it comes down to the line in the movie where (Moretz’s character) says, ‘I don’t see myself as a homosexual; I don’t see myself as anything.’ These are all societal pressures that we’re being labeled with.
“We’re all human, trying to connect with the people we love and be the best versions of ourselves. But don’t assume people’s sexualities, and don’t project your own issues onto them. Why don’t we let people be who they want to be?”
Now, the actress has described herself as a “gay woman” in a social media post highlighting the importance of voting in the 2024 presidential election.
Moretz wrote on Instagram, “I voted early, and I voted for Kamala Harris.”
“There is so much at stake in this election. I believe the government has no right over my body as a woman, and that decisions regarding my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor. Kamala Harris will protect that for us.
“I also believe in the need for legal protections for the LGBTQ+ community as a gay woman. We need these protections in this country to ensure access to the care we need and deserve.”
“SO… Are you voting early? Let’s make a plan to get to your polling place with your friends!”
Since Moretz has disabled comments on her post, fans have turned to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the star for her openness.
“I love her for this,” one fan wrote.
Another user commented, “It’s great that she’s finally embraced her identity as a gay woman. She and Kate have been together for years, and it’s obvious that she’s in love with her.”
A third user expressed their excitement, saying, “I can’t stop smiling about this. I’m so happy for her! Good for her!”
