A rumor regarding Amber Heard and Jason Momoa has been confirmed.
Amber Heard, aged 38, and Jason Momoa, who is 44, were co-stars in DCโs hit film “Aquaman” as well as its follow-up, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
In the sequel, Heardโs time on screen was notably less compared to her presence in the original film.
It appears she has now somewhat withdrawn from the spotlight.
Leading up to the debut of the second “Aquaman” film, there was a lot of speculation and chatter about the nature of Heard and Momoaโs off-screen relationship.
A film executive has now shared details about this topic.
Over the past few years, Heard has rarely been seen in public, and it is reported that she has stepped away from her Hollywood career.
According to a source from People magazine, the actress is now dedicating herself to motherhood, focusing on her daughter Oonagh, who was born in 2021.
“She spends every day with her girl. They stroll around, visit parks, and enjoy family time. Amber is a great mom,” the source elaborated.
This shift in Heard’s life comes following her legal battles with her former husband, Johnny Depp, a star known for his role in “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
Depp won a defamation lawsuit against Heard in 2022 which stemmed from an op-ed she penned for The Washington Post in 2018, discussing domestic violence.
Deppโs legal team argued that, although he wasnโt explicitly named, the article was indirectly referring to prior accusations Heard had made against him.
Throughout the trial, both parties exchanged a series of alarming accusations against each other.
During the trial, Heard testified that her involvement in the “Aquaman” sequel was dramatically reduced amid her ongoing legal disputes with Depp.
She expressed that she had to fight “really hard to stay in the movie” and noticed that with “newer versions of the script,” her scenes were “taken away,” according to MailOnline.
She commented, “They basically took a bunch out of my role. They just removed a bunch.”
However, when it was time for Deppโs counterarguments, another explanation was provided regarding why Heard’s screen time was reduced.
During a video deposition, Walter Hamada, the executive producer of “Aquaman,” claimed that Heardโs role was not cut down and that her character was always intended to be less prominent.
He mentioned that there were discussions about possibly recasting Heard’s role due to lack of chemistry with Momoa.
“They didnโt really have a lot of chemistry together,” Hamada revealed (according to The Independent).
He continued, explaining, “The reality is, itโs not uncommon in movies for two leads to not have chemistry.”
He added that it “took a lot of effort” to make their on-screen relationship appear believable.
Filmmaker James Wan also shared insights with Entertainment Weekly, stating that the decision for Heard to have a smaller role was part of the original plan for the sequel.
“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first Aquaman was Arthur and Meraโs journey.
“The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm.
“So the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one is a bromance action-adventure movie. Weโll leave it at that,” Wan explained.
Despite the discussions surrounding her role, Heard did make an appearance in “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” although her participation was significantly reduced.
