A bride was left stunned on her wedding day when only a handful of guests showed up, despite sending out 100 invitations.
A heartbreaking video of a bride entering an empty venue has gone viral after none of the guests showed up to her wedding.
Kalina Marie shared her story on TikTok, revealing that she had sent digital invitations to 75 people and physical invites to 25 more for her masquerade-themed wedding.
Unfortunately, none of them attended, leaving the couple to leave the venue with their son while only three people were seen celebrating with them. Kalina explained that she and her partner had been together for nine years, engaged for four, and that their wedding had been delayed due to the pandemic.
The turnout, however, wasnโt exactly what they had anticipated, prompting Kalina to share the viral video along with an extensive caption.
As of this writing, the video has garnered over six and a half million views. The caption reads: “Hereโs our entrance to our Masquerade ballโthe same ball Iโve talked about NONSTOP for the past 10 months.
“The same event I personally invited over 75 people to online and also spent money sending out 25 beautiful physical invitations to,” she began.
โFIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you serious!?!?โ Kalina exclaimed. โAs you can see in the video, we walk into the venue, and thereโs literally no one there.โ
She went on to explain that she delayed the start of the event by an hour, hoping more guests would arrive, but in the end, they made their entrance at 2pm… to just five people.
She had imagined walking into a room full of people celebrating, but instead, she felt like “a woman trying to hold herself together,” struggling to cope with the sight of the venue nearly empty.
Frustrated by the “wasted food and drinks” and the sight of “empty tables and chairs,” the group still carried on partying, with her writing, โDid we still make the most of it? You bet your SWEET a** we did.”
However, she also admitted, โBut did this video just take all the good moments and shoot them out of the water for a second? F**k yeah, it did.”
Kalina questioned whether she was a bad person, whether they didn’t matter enough for people to show up, and whether they had the right friends around them, since so many never congratulated her or even bothered to explain why they couldnโt attend.
The content creator wrapped up with, “But all I know is, I have my man. My baby. And family that shows up when I need them. And for that, I will be thankful.”
In a follow-up video posted days after the original, Kalina addressed the situation further, providing more context and responding to questions from her audience.
She explained that they had set an October wedding date back in January and had been “blabbing” about it on Facebook. She created a Facebook event and sent out 25 invitations to elders and people without social media access.
One user asked what explanations they received from those who didnโt show up, and Kalina responded by saying she wasnโt sure why so many people had backed out.
“I haven’t really received a lot of messages explaining why people weren’t there or giving me excuses, and I’m kind of thankful for that,” she admitted.
Kalina wrapped up by saying, “For the most part, we’ve done a lot of deleting and re-evaluating our lives, just spending a lot of time appreciating what we have and what we had.”
