Conjoined twin Abby Hensel is now married

Abby Hensel, known for her television appearances alongside her conjoined twin Brittany, has recently tied the knot.

Abby and Brittany captured the public’s attention with their debut appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996, when they were approximately six years old.

In their twenties, the sisters transitioned into the spotlight with the TLC reality show “Abby & Brittany.” The series chronicled their journey as they graduated from college and embarked on life’s adventures.

Jumping ahead another decade, Abby has now exchanged vows with Josh Bowling, a nurse and US Army veteran.

The trio is depicted in what seems to be a wedding snapshot on the Hensels’ shared Facebook page. In the image, the twins are adorned in white attire, while Bowling is clad in a white suit, portraying a charming scene of their union.

Although news of the wedding has recently surfaced, public records obtained by Today unveiled that the couple actually exchanged vows in 2021.

Three years later, the couple appears joyous in snapshots of their travels, hiking adventures, and shared moments of bliss, showcasing their enjoyment of life together.

Brittany, Abby, and Josh have settled in Minnesota, their hometown, where the sisters spent their formative years. Reports indicate that the twins have embarked on careers as fifth-grade teachers, further contributing to their community.

Josh’s X account portrays him as a “Christian, Father, Husband, Veteran, and occasional gamer,” offering insights into his multifaceted identity and interests.

As dicephalus conjoined twins, Abby and Brittany share a bloodstream and all organs below the waist. Abby autonomously controls their right arm and leg, while Brittany independently manages the limbs on the left side.

In the premiere episode of their reality TV show, the twins expressed that people had been “curious” about them since their birth, highlighting the enduring fascination surrounding their unique condition.

“But our parents never allowed us to use that as an excuse. We were raised with the belief that we could pursue anything we desired,” they affirmed.

Abby and Brittany’s parents, Patty and Mike, were presented with the choice to separate the twins at birth. However, they opted against the procedure upon learning that there was minimal likelihood of both twins surviving.

In 2003, Abby and Brittany were featured in a documentary titled “Joined For Life,” during which Patty confirmed that her children expressed interest in becoming mothers themselves one day.

“That is probably something that could work because those organs do function for them,” she remarked.

Brittany affirmed their aspirations for the future at that time, stating, “Yeah, we’re going to be moms. We haven’t quite figured out how being moms will work yet.”

“But we’re only 16 โ€” we don’t need to dwell on that right now,” she added.
