A TikToker sharing her first cruise adventure has taken social media by storm with her exciting discovery.
People have advised a vacationer to “keep walking” after noticing “cute little pineapples” displayed on cruise ship doors.
In most cases, pineapple emblems and ornaments are simply decorative tributes to the tropical fruit, native to regions like West Africa and Latin America.
In pop culture, you might think of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, where the titular character famously lives in a pineapple under the sea.
But when it comes to adult cruises, the herbaceous perennial takes on a whole different meaning, as one seemingly innocent TikToker discovered.
A woman named Dominique (@blogionistatravels) documented her first cruise ship experience on social media.
In one of her videos, Dominique mentioned discovering some interesting decorations adorning various cabin doors.
In the 15-second clip, which has garnered 21 million views since its September 2022 posting, the travel blogger panned down a corridor of living quarters.
On the doors, various pineapple stickers appeared to have been tacked on.
“When you’re on your maiden cruise and notice everyone’s got these adorable little pineapples on their doors.”
“After watching the video, viewers have taken to the comments to share their thoughts on the pineapple stickers.”
One TikTok user wrote: โThe welcome one with the butterfly makes me think it’s a sweet old lady that thinks ppl just decorate with pineapples on cruises & want to decorate.โ
“Still waiting on the name of the cruiseโฆ for a friend, of course.”
“It could be that the cruise placed them there. It’s like the international symbol of hospitality.”
“Oops, don’t go in unless you’re ready to mix things up, if you catch my drift.”
“I once decorated our campsite with pineapples, only to realize at 2 AM the unintended message I was sending. Needless to say, I stick to watermelons now!”
“Baby, just keep walking,” advised another viewer.
According to Cruisehive, pineapples are commonly used symbols to indicate interest in swinging.
Typically, these subtle motifs are placed upside down to serve as a secret code for swinging, swinger parties, and wife-swapping.
Interestingly, they’re not the only signs that swingersโa person who engages in group sex or the swapping of sexual partnersโuse to identify others.
Many swingers on vacation wear black rings, while married couples sometimes choose to place their wedding band on their right hand instead of their left.
If you’re not inclined to be discreet about your sexual preferences, there are dedicated adult-only swingers cruises that you can book onto..
