The world is evolving, and fortunately, our society is becoming more accepting and inclusive of individuals who identify as LGBTQ+.

In the past decade, there has been a significant rise in the number of individuals seeking treatment at gender identity services, with the majority being teenagers experiencing gender dysphoria.
What exactly is gender dysphoria?
Gender dysphoria is characterized by a mismatch between an individual’s biological s*x and their gender identity.
Individuals with gender dysphoria often experience significant discomfort with their bodies, frequently describing a sense of disconnection as if their bodies do not belong to them.

This may indicate that they identify more closely with being male, female, or even outside of the traditional binary altogether.
Several prominent celebrities have publicly come out as experiencing gender dysphoria.
Demi Lovato.

In 2021, Demi Lovato announced on Instagram, “I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering,” as reported by Seventeen.
Sam Smith.

“I don’t know what the title would be, but I feel just as much a woman as I am a man,” they stated, according to the news outlet.
Ruby Rose.

The prominent Ruby Rose revealed their gender fluidity in 2014, stating, “I am very gender fluid and feel more like I wake up every day sort of gender-neutral,” as reported by Seventeen.
Olly Alexander.

In 2016, Ruby Rose shared, “I feel very non-binary, and you know, I identify as gay and queer and non-binary.”
Amandla Stenberg.

The talented Amandla Stenberg came out as non-binary in 2016.
Miley Cyrus.

In a 2015 interview, Amandla Stenberg described their gender fluidity, saying, “I’m just equal. I’m just even. It has nothing to do with any parts of me or how I dress or how I look. It’s literally just how I feel.”
Indya Moore.

In a now-deleted tweet, Amandla Stenberg expressed, “I’m non-binary, femme; Agender feels fitting too. My pronouns: they/them/theirs. I correct people often. At times they ignore me & I tolerate it to avoid conflict/irritation, but it’s upsetting to feel like I’m ‘too much’ in a world that takes so much from trans people constantly.”
And that’s just a few examples.
Historically, individuals, including transgender people, have been categorized strictly as either male or female.

But recently, some are insisting that they don’t quite fit into the categories of ‘man’ or ‘woman’, or ‘male’ or ‘female’, and thus identify as ‘non-binary.’
For a long time, society has recognized individuals primarily as either male or female based on their gender identity.

The concept that there are only two genders is often referred to as the “gender binary,” as “binary” means “having two parts.”
However, as understanding evolves, people now use the term “non-binary” to describe gender identities that don’t fit exclusively into the categories of male or female.
There’s no doubt that gender identity is becoming increasingly fluid for some individuals.

Countless organizations worldwide are dedicated to supporting individuals navigating gender identity, including those in the transgender community.
Long-time ESPN reporter M.A. Voepel recently came out as transgender, announcing his transition to male.

Voepel shared his decision to transition, expressing his desire to present as his “authentic self” when he receives the Naismith Hall of Fame’s Gowdy Award next month.
“At some point, you realize you need to have faith that your happiness and well-being are worth pursuing, and also have faith in the kindness and grace of others.”

Voepel also stated, “I am grateful for a company that supports all of its employees, for terrific family and friends, and for societal progress. Please feel free to call me Voepel, MV, Michael, or Mike; I’m good with them all.”
One notable transphobe has been Kid Rock.

He expressed his anger over the collaboration by posting a bizarre video on social media where he shot a case of Bud Light with a gun.
In contrast, Howard Stern has voiced strong criticism regarding Kid Rock’s protest.
“I thought there must be a piece of the story that I’m missing,” Stern remarked.
“I’m not bothered by gay people or transgender people. They don’t impact my life; they don’t hurt my life. I love when people are in love. You wanna be a woman? Be a woman. You wanna be a dude? Be a dude. Be whatever you f***ing want,” Stern stated.

“As long as you aren’t hurting anybody, I’m on your team,” he added.
“I wish I could call Kid Rock and have him come on the show and just tell me, ‘Why are you so upset about this? How is this hurtful?’ I don’t know why he got so upset,” Stern continued.

“Kid Rock, I know him. He’s got a great life. He transitioned from some kid in Michigan to a rock superstar! I’m really dumbfounded by why someone would care so much that they would blow up a can of Bud Light and say, ‘F*** Anheuser-Busch.’ I don’t get it,” Stern expressed.
