In a deeply personal essay, they began: “Hi friends, I want to share that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot. I feel fortunate to be writing this and to be here.”
“I am deeply grateful to the incredible people who have supported me throughout this journey.”
“I can’t fully express how incredible it feels to finally love who I am enough to embrace my authentic self.”
“I’ve been endlessly inspired by so many in the trans community. Thank you for your courage, generosity, and tireless efforts to make this world more inclusive and compassionate. I will offer whatever support I can and continue to work towards a more loving and equal society,” he wrote.
“I take immense pride in being trans and queer. Embracing and loving myself fully has allowed my dreams to flourish, my heart to expand, and my spirit to thrive. To every trans person facing harassment, self-doubt, abuse, or violence: I see you, I love you, and I am committed to working towards a world where you are celebrated and safe.”
He then requested patience as he navigates and adjusts to his new identity.
He wrote, “My joy is genuine, yet delicate. Although I feel deeply happy and acknowledge the privilege I have, I am also feeling scared.”
He expressed, “I’m afraid of the invasiveness, the hatred, the ‘jokes,’ and the potential for violence. I want to be clear that I’m not trying to undermine the joy of this moment that I am celebrating, but rather to address the complete reality.”
