Yet, Mahogany’s life took a positive turn when an agency extended a modeling opportunity to her. Embracing this chance, she began promoting body positivity, inspiring others to embrace and love their uniqueness.
Mahogany entered the world with a unique medical condition
Residing in Tennessee, Mahogany grapples with a rare condition known as lymphedema. This condition, characterized by the accumulation of excess fluids in the body’s soft tissue, has resulted in Geter having a leg that weighs 100 pounds.
Following her diagnosis, walking became an arduous task for Mahogany. Describing the challenge, she shared, “It drains my energy, of course, because it’s an extra 100 pounds.” To address the condition, she diligently engages in physiotherapy and massages to manage the fibrosis in her leg.
Challenges and obstacles faced during the process of maturation
She discussed the challenges she encountered in her upbringing: “I’ve experienced periods of deep depression as a child, dealing with the scrutiny of grown adults. It’s likely that it can have a significant impact on one’s mental and emotional well-being,” Mahogany expressed.
Mahogany shared, “During my childhood, I never felt attractive. I perceived myself as ugly, like a misfit, and shed countless tears in solitude.” Despite doctors recommending various surgeries, she opted to decline them and embraced herself just as she was.
She embarked on her modeling journey in the year 2017
Mahogany’s employment at Walmart marked a significant turning point in her life. The trajectory changed positively in 2017 when she received a modeling opportunity. A photographer noticed her, and she agreed to be photographed. Reflecting on this, Mahogany shared, “I thought, ‘I’m growing older now, perhaps it’s time to fully embrace and showcase my body,’ with the hope that my journey can inspire and support someone else.”
Mahogany gained widespread recognition after being featured in a viral YouTube video, marking the commencement of her flourishing career. The video significantly boosted her social media presence, attracting a substantial number of followers almost instantly. Reflecting on the feedback she received, Mahogany noted, “Primarily, I’ve received a multitude of positive responses. The ones that resonate the most with me are those indicating that my journey is helping people who also struggle with low self-esteem.”
She encourages everyone to embrace their individuality
Mahogany remains optimistic and encourages everyone to adopt a positive mindset. Her goal is to inspire people to embrace their distinct qualities. Mahogany actively promotes body positivity, urging individuals to cultivate self-love. Reflecting on her online experience, she mentions, “People have been incredibly kind and supportive towards me. It’s not solely about trolling and negativity.”

Mahogany expressed, “Should I achieve significant success, my first priority is to purchase a home for my mother and ensure the well-being of my family. After that, I am committed to raising awareness about lymphedema as a way of giving back to all those who have shown me kindness.”
Many have found inspiration in her journey
Mahogany has grown stronger through her struggles, using her condition as a source of inspiration for others. Reflecting on her journey, she shared, “For the longest time, I felt a sense of low self-esteem. However, as I grew older and received immense support from the online lymphedema community, along with my mom, who serves as my inspiration, I came to recognize my beauty – not just in terms of appearance but as a person.”
