Gypsy Rose Blanchard eyes up Millie Bobby Brown to play her in biopic: ‘I think she’d be good’

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has shared her preference for the actress she envisions portraying her in a biopic, expressing that she has her sights set on Millie Bobby Brown for the role.

Released from prison in December, the 32-year-old had served eight years for her involvement in orchestrating the murder of her mother, Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’ Blanchard, who passed away in 2015.

Nicholas Godejohn, Gypsy Rose’s then-boyfriend whom she met on a Christian dating site, stabbed Dee Dee to death. Both Gypsy Rose and Godejohn had jointly planned the killing, and he is presently serving a life sentence for his role in the crime.

Despite numerous TV series and films exploring the case and Gypsy Rose’s life, she disclosed her belief that Millie Bobby Brown would excel in portraying her in a prospective depiction of her life story.

In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Gypsy Rose openly acknowledged, “It’s funny, because I always wanted Millie Bobby Brown to play me. I think she’d be good at playing me. I always had her in mind!”

Given Gypsy Rose’s release and the publication of her memoir, which provides her perspective on the story for the first time, there is a significant possibility that it might be adapted into a biopic or a series in the future. The immense interest in her life, particularly after her release, adds to the potential for such projects.

Joey King delivered one of the most prominent portrayals of Gypsy Rose’s story on screen in “The Act.” She took on the role in this well-known depiction of the case.

Although Gypsy Rose confessed to never having watched “The Act,” she expressed admiration for Joey King’s portrayal, particularly noting the accuracy of her imitation of Gypsy’s voice. In an interview, she mentioned, “I still have not watched ‘The Act.’ I feel like… I lived it, it was my life, I don’t feel like I have to go back and rewatch it played out.”

“I’m confident that Joey King did an amazing job portraying me. I actually heard an audio clip of her mimicking my voice, and I think she nailed it.”

“However, I believe that, for my own well-being, not revisiting the trauma is the best choice.”

The Hulu drama was released in 2019, featuring Joey King as Gypsy Rose and Patricia Arquette in the role of Dee Dee.

Gypsy Rose had initially received a 10-year prison sentence for her involvement in the plot to murder her mother. However, she was released early after serving eight years.

During the court proceedings, she revealed that she and Nicholas had discussed plans to kill her mother before he carried out the heinous act. Gypsy Rose explained that she believed it was her only way to escape from the abuse she had been subjected to by Dee Dee.

Gypsy Rose had been a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a form of abuse inflicted by her mother. Dee Dee had forced her to undergo numerous treatments and painful surgeries for a series of illnesses that she had falsely claimed Gypsy Rose was suffering from.

Dee Dee had falsely claimed that Gypsy Rose suffered from leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and had the mental capacity of a child. Subsequently, it was determined that none of these conditions were true.

While serving her sentence, Gypsy Rose met and married her current husband, Ryan Anderson. Since her release, the couple has been making the most of their time together, getting to know each other more deeply now that she is a free woman.
