Imane Khelif, the boxer at the center of a heated gender debate, has advanced to the final of the Women’s 66kg welterweight division at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This follows a tumultuous journey filled with allegations and tests that have deeply divided the sports world.

The Algerian fighter, who encountered an unspecified IBA gender test failure last year, has overcome her competitors to secure at least a silver medal.

Just yesterday, on August 6, she delivered a dominant performance in the semi-finals, defeating Thai boxer Janjaem Suwannapheng by unanimous decision.

In her post-match media address, Khelif remained resolute amid the ongoing controversy.

“I donโt care what anyone is saying about me with the controversy,” Khelif declared defiantly.

“All that matters to me is staying at my best and giving my people the performance they deserve. I know Iโm talented, and this is my gift to all Algerians,” she stated.
