Kate Middleton announces she has finished chemotherapy for cancer in emotional update

Kate Middleton shared an emotional update this afternoon (9 September), announcing that she has completed her chemotherapy for cancer.

The Princess of Wales appeared in a heartfelt video with her family, confirming that she will be returning to public duties following this positive development.

“As summer draws to a close, I can’t express how relieved I am to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” reads a message from her on the family’s official X account.

In her message about her cancer journey, Kate’s words are accompanied by images of her and her husband with their three children, enjoying the outdoors, walking through the woods, and sharing intimate moments, such as cuddling and holding hands.

The royal describes the past nine months since her diagnosis as “incredibly tough for us as a family” and explains that the “cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone.” She shares that this experience has given her a “new perspective on everything.”

In the video, Kate says, โ€œMy focus now is on doing everything I can to stay cancer-free. Although I have completed chemotherapy, the road to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes.โ€

โ€œDespite everything that has happened, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and a deeper appreciation for life.โ€

The Princess will continue working from home but hopes to resume a light schedule of public duties for the remainder of the year.

With a focus on her full recovery, she aims to participate in a few engagements over the coming months.

The Princess’ Christmas Carol concert at Westminster Abbey has become a staple in the royal calendar in recent years, and she has started collaborating with her team on the project.

“William and I are deeply thankful for the overwhelming support weโ€™ve received. The strength weโ€™ve gained from everyone whoโ€™s been there for us during this time is immeasurable. Your kindness, empathy, and compassion have been truly humbling.”

“To everyone continuing their own cancer journey, I stand with you, side by side, hand in hand. From the darkness can come light, so let that light shine brightly.”
