This week marks the release of the latest Mean Girls, and Lindsay Lohan’s fee for the new film is undeniably ‘fetch.’

Devotees of the cult classic Mean Girls have found plenty to discuss in the wake of the release of a new iteration of the film.

The revamped edition brings the iconic 2004 movie into 2024, complete with all the social media and smartphones characteristic of the present era.

Lohan makes a cameo appearance in the tournament, stepping into the role of the moderator for a math competition in the new film.

Meanwhile, Angourie Rice takes on Lohan’s old role as new arrival, Cady Heron, as she navigates the intricacies and power of highย school.

Tina Fey reprises her role as math teacher Ms. Norbury, and Jon Hamm joins the cast as Coach Carr in the latest installment.

Although Lohan’s role in the film was relatively minor, her compensation for the part appears to be quite substantial.

As per a Variety report, Lohan reportedly secured a paycheck of $500,000 for her half-day’s work on the new version.

The latest rendition of Mean Girls features a cinematic adaptation of the story’s stage musical.

Lohan’s unexpected appearance elicited a round of applause during the film’s premiere in New York on January 8.

Nevertheless, reports suggest that a particular aspect of the film left Lohan feeling ‘hurt’ and ‘disappointed,’ and it appears to have nothing to do with the rumored payout.

Numerous fans of the original movie were taken aback after hastily heading to the cinema, and one individual’s reaction, in particular, gained attention online.

Inside the cinema, footage captured the audience’s collective groans and laughter as they came to the realization that the film was, in fact, a musical.

The latest iteration hasn’t strayed too much from the original, but it does pledge to introduce fresh twists to this modern classic.

The official synopsis describes the arrival of new student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) into the social hierarchy’s pinnacle, where she is embraced by the exclusive clique of popular girls known as ‘The Plastics.’ This group is led by the scheming Regina George (Reneรฉ Rapp) and includes her loyal followers Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika).

Yet, as Cady succumbs to the significant error of developing feelings for Regina’s former boyfriend, Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she becomes the target of Regina’s calculated vengeance. Determined to dismantle the group’s leader, Cady, alongside her outsider companions Janis (Auliโ€™i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), must grapple with staying authentic to herself in the merciless jungle that is high school.
