Marlon Wayans has criticized Elon Musk for failing to support his transgender daughter.
Elon Musk’s daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, publicly came out as transgender in 2022.
At 18 years old, she filed to change her name and severed ties with her billionaire father.
Since then, the tech mogul has made highly controversial remarks about the transgender community and his daughter, leading to backlash from one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars.
In a live video streamed on X, formerly known as Twitter, Musk claimed to conservative commentator Jordan Peterson that he had been “tricked” into approving transgender-related medical treatment for his daughter when she was just 16.
Wilson has since asserted that Musk’s claims are false. Continuing to use incorrect pronouns and gender when referring to his daughter, Musk stated, “I lost my son.”
“They refer to it as ‘deadnaming’ for a reason: it signifies that your son is dead. So, my son is dead, killed by the woke mind virus,” Musk said.
In response, Wilson posted on Threads, stating: “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he simply wasn’t there. And during the little time he was, I faced relentless harassment for my femininity and queerness.”
The now 20-year-old has severed all ties with her father.
Marlon Wayans, known for his role in White Chicks and as a father of a transgender child, felt it necessary to speak out against the tech billionaire for his transphobic remarks.
In a recent episode of the podcast Club Shay Shay, hosted by Shannon Sharpe, the Scary Movie actor shared his thoughts on his son Kai coming out.
“I struggled with it for a week, and while I’m not proud of my initial reaction, I’m proud of how quickly I was able to accept it,” he said.
“I regret to say that for some parents, family members, and others, it may take a lifetime to reach the understanding I’ve found, and they might never experience that transformative acceptance.”
He also revealed that Kai, who uses he/they pronouns, challenged his belief in rigid roles and stereotypes. Ultimately, he feels it’s his responsibility to be a supportive father and love Kai unconditionally.
Wayans also addressed Musk’s transphobic remarks, saying, “I have a Tesla that I’m ready to drive off a cliff,” he joked.
He continued, “I don’t like what he’s saying about his trans child; it really upset me. You shouldn’t treat those kids that way. You don’t disown your child.”
He emphasized, “Love your child!”
