Michael Jackson’s son Prince explained why his dad always used to cover their faces growing up

The King of Pop famously kept his children’s faces hidden from the public when they were younger.

Michael Jackson’s son, Prince, has explained why his father always covered their faces while they were growing up.

The King of Pop, who passed away in 2009, left behind three children who generally prefer to stay out of the spotlight.

He had his first two children, Michael Joseph Jackson Jr., 27, known as ‘Prince,’ and Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson, 26, with his second wife, Debbie Rowe, a dermatology nurse.

His third child, Prince Michael Jackson II, 22, known as ‘Blanket’ and later as ‘Bigi,’ was conceived through a surrogate.

The identity of Bigi’s mother has never been publicly disclosed.

When they were younger, Jackson frequently covered his children’s faces in public. His eldest child explained the reason for this in a 2016 interview with the Los Angeles Times.

Prince said, “My dad talked to me like an adult.”

He explained that the reason for the masks was that he wanted us to have our own lives without him.

“I don’t think I ever considered whether other kids lived like that when I was younger.”

“But once I understood who he was, I realized it wasn’t normal.”

“I recall being at Disneyland and approaching the window, where I saw a crowd of fans excitedly waving and snapping pictures of me.”

“I assumed it was just a normal part of the experience, so I simply waved back.”

“You could say my entire life has been anything but conventional.”

“I genuinely love that about my life, and it’s all I’ve ever known.”

“It wasn’t until I watched a video of him performing and saw people fainting and passing out that I realized just how much his work meant to people.”

Speaking about following in his dad’s footsteps, he joked, “Everyone assumes I’ll be into music and dance too.”

But he’s the first to admit that he can’t do either of the things his dad was famously the ‘King’ of.

He said, “Music plays a significant role in my life.”

“It has shaped who I am due to my family’s influence, but I’ve always aspired to work in production and directing.”

Prince graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Loyola Marymount University in 2019.

He also co-founded the charity Heal Los Angeles, dedicated to enhancing the lives of young people in Los Angeles.

In 2020, he expressed that he believes his dad would be ‘very proud’ of everything he has accomplished.

Two years later, Prince revealed that he and his girlfriend, Molly Schirmang, had been together for five years.

They still seem to be together to this day.
