Griselda’s presence in real life significantly influenced the drug trade during the 1970s and 80s.
Having originated from Medellin, Colombia, she initiated a drug operation in New York and later relocated it to Miami.
In Miami, her drug empire expanded significantly, establishing her as a pivotal figure in the Miami Drug Wars of the 70s and 80s, earning her the moniker ‘Cocaine Cowboy Wars’.
Ultimately, she was apprehended and received a 15-year prison sentence in 1985. Prosecutors continued to pursue additional charges against her while she was incarcerated.
Released in 2004, she was deported to Colombia, where she resided until 2012. Tragically, she met her demise when an unidentified gunman on a motorcycle shot her dead as she was leaving a butcher’s shop.
