Netflix viewers are claiming that a terrifying horror movie has left them feeling “sick to their stomach.”
Everyone has their own unique fears, whether it’s something as small as spiders or as specific as needles. Some fears, like a fear of heights, are quite common, affecting many people in various ways.
It’s interesting how different people experience fear, and how some can be linked to personal experiences or even cultural backgrounds.
Acrophobia is a condition characterized by an intense fear of heights.
People with acrophobia experience intense anxiety when they are at a significant height, or even just thinking about it.
Now, a film has been released that explores this fear, and despite being terrifying, it’s one that you can’t look away from.
The survival thriller, directed by Scott Mann, stars Grace Caroline Currey, Virginia Gardner, Mason Gooding, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The film’s description reads: “Two best friends, Becky and Hunter, decide to climb a 2,000-foot-tall, abandoned tower. Soon, they find themselves stranded atop it after the corroded ladder breaks.”
Reacting to the film on social media, one person commented, “I literally got sick to my stomach while watching.”
Another added, “My palms haven’t sweated like this in a long time.”
“I am terrified of heights, so watching it was pure masochism. Terrifying!” a third viewer commented.
Another said, “I didn’t expect much from this, but it’s a great exercise in cinematic tension—it really gets to you. Very pleasantly surprised by this!”
A fifth viewer admitted, “I couldn’t even make it through the trailer.”
The movie has received a Rotten Tomatoes score of 79%, a Metacritic score of 62 out of 100, and an IMDb rating of 8.4/10.
The movie has also received praise from critics. Adam Olinger of Adam Does Movies said, “If you are afraid of heights, you might want to skip this one.”
Dallas King of Flick Feast added, “This is an intense thriller that needs to be experienced on the biggest screen possible.”
In an interview with Radio Times, Mann revealed the inspiration behind Fall.
He shared, “The inception of the height idea came about when we were shooting Final Score at a stadium in the U.K.”
“We were filming at height, and off-camera, we got into this interesting conversation about height and the fear of falling, and how that’s inside of all of us, really, and how that can be a great device for a movie,” Mann explained.
It has now been confirmed that a Fall 2 is in the works.
Variety reports that filmmakers Michael and Peter Spierig will direct the sequel, with the brothers stating, “We’re extremely excited to helm the second installment of this franchise and bring to life another nail-biting, vertigo-inducing thrill ride.”
