At the Emmy Awards this year, Danny DeVito extended a shoutout to his estranged wife and fellow actor, Rhea Perlman.
Playfully referencing the show’s limited Emmy wins, DeVito could be heard enthusiastically supporting his wife’s accomplishments as he presented the award for Outstanding Talk Series.

Unfortunately, their relationship wasn’t meant to last, as the couple ultimately parted ways for good in 2017.
Despite their separation, it appears that the actors continue to offer significant support to each other. Perlman was seen accompanying DeVito at the awards show.
The actor from Matilda sweetly acknowledged his former wife, offering praise for her achievements during her tenure on the show Cheers.
Sharing the stage with Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, and Kaitlin Olson, the co-stars delved into the Emmy history. They highlighted that DeVito’s show, Taxi, had garnered 34 Emmy nominations in five years, contrasting it with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which, despite its release in 2005, had yet to receive any Emmy nominations.

Even after their separation, DeVito and Perlman have maintained a close connection and continue to co-parent their three children – Lucy, Grace, and Jake DeVito.
Perlman, at the age of 75, has openly discussed their relationship, clarifying that the couple has no intentions of pursuing a divorce.
In an episode of the podcast “Wiser Than Me” last year, Perlman, 75, shared with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “We are still married.”
“And we are still very good friends, and we see each other a lot. Our family remains the most important thing to both of us,” Perlman added.

In an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Perlman further emphasized, “I don’t know why it’s difficult for other people, but Danny and I have always loved each other, and we have three amazing children together.”
“We really agree on almost everything important,” Perlman noted, highlighting the shared values and understanding between her and DeVito.
Reflecting on their long history, Perlman remarked, “You know, we were together for 40 years. 40 years is a long time. You might have to do something else!” underscoring the significance and duration of their relationship.
Upon their separation, Perlman revealed that the initial period was ‘very difficult’ for both of them.
“It was very difficult at first. And there were a lot of reasons that we separated, which I’m not gonna go into. But it took time for us to come to this somehow pretty decent understanding and relationship with each other,” Perlman explained, shedding light on the challenges they faced and the eventual evolution of their relationship.
“But I don’t think I would’ve ever given up my relationship for it. And I didn’t,” Perlman affirmed, emphasizing her commitment to the enduring bond she shares with DeVito.
