Considering Jacksonโ€™s African-American heritage, Paris has recently explained why she identifies as a Black woman.

She recalled to Rolling Stone, โ€œ[Michael] would look me in the eyes, point his finger at me, and say, โ€˜Youโ€™re Black. Be proud of your roots.โ€™โ€

She said, โ€œAnd Iโ€™d think, โ€˜OK, heโ€™s my dad; why would he lie to me?โ€™ So I just believed what he told me. As far as I know, heโ€™s never lied to me.โ€

Addressing her lighter skin tone, Paris mentioned that many people assume sheโ€™s white and that sheโ€™s โ€œfrom Finland or something.โ€

She would mention that other mixed-race individuals resemble her, including Wentworth Miller from “Prison Break,” who has a Black father and a white mother.

Following these remarks, Paris has faced backlash, with talk show host Wendy Williams even calling her comments ‘cute’.

“I understand she identifies as Black, but Iโ€™m speaking about appearances. Black isnโ€™t just about what you call yourself; itโ€™s what the cops see when theyโ€™ve got steel pressed against your neck on the turnpike,” she said.

“It’s about how they see you. But that’s cute, and good for her.”
