Queen Elizabeth II’s savage two-word criticism of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress revealed by royal biographer

A renowned royal biographer has revealed the reaction of the late Queen Elizabeth II upon witnessing Meghan Markle’s wedding dress.

In 2018, the ex-Suits actress formally became a part of the UK Royal Family by marrying Prince Harry, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.

Regrettably, the couple’s relationship has been marked by controversy, ranging from Meghan and Harry’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey to the Prince’s recurrent sensational claims in his autobiography, “Spare.”

Presently, Ingrid Seward, the editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine and esteemed royal biographer, recognized as one of the foremost and respected authors on the British royal family, is preparing to launch a new book offering a novel perspective on the monarchy.

After the triumph of her prior works, including titles like “The Queen’s Speech,” “My Husband and I,” and “Prince Philip Revealed,” Ingrid Seward’s upcoming book, “My Mother And I,” unveils Queen Elizabeth II’s sentiments regarding Markle.

According to The Independent, snippets from the book disclose that the late Queen Elizabeth II would exclusively confide her personal thoughts to her most trusted confidantes, among them her cousin Lady Elizabeth Anson.

Reported by The Times, excerpts from the book disclose that Queen Elizabeth II’s initial reaction to Markle was undeniably positive. The Queen “approved” of the actress when she was introduced to her by Prince Harry in 2017.

Nevertheless, a year later, Queen Elizabeth II reportedly expressed some criticism of Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry. Seward writes in the book that the late Queen felt Markle’s dress was “too white” for someone who had been previously divorced.

Seward, in her forthcoming book, notes, “In the monarchโ€™s perspective, it was deemed inappropriate for a remarried divorcee in a church ceremony to appear excessively virginal and flamboyant.”

The Royal Observer further reports that, according to Seward, Queen Elizabeth II was also “uncomfortable” with the former Prince Charles, Meghan’s new father-in-law, escorting the actress down the aisle in lieu of her absent father, Thomas Markle. The late monarch purportedly believed that Markle should have chosen to “walk herself” during the procession.

In another revelation from Seward’s forthcoming book, she divulges the purported derogatory nickname that the late Prince Philip had for Markle.

According to The Telegraph, an excerpt from Seward’s new book discloses that Prince Philip reportedly referred to Markle as the “Duchess of Windsor.”

This moniker serves as a pointed reference to the controversial American socialite Wallis Simpson, who also held the title of the Duchess of Windsor.

Wallis, an American who had been divorced, married Edward VIII in 1937 after he abdicated the British throne, causing a significant scandal.

Edward VIII, the uncle of the late Queen Elizabeth II, encountered substantial resistance from the Church of England and the then-UK Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin. They not only disapproved of the King marrying a divorced woman but also contended that the public would not accept Simpson as queen due to her marital status.

They proceeded to receive the designation of Duke and Duchess of Windsor from Edward’s younger sibling, King George VI.

Seward’s book explores Prince Philip’s perspective on Markle and his unsettling comparison to Simpson. The author points out that Philip found it “uncanny” how much Markle resembled Simpson. This parallel extended beyond their physical resemblances, as both were slender, dark-haired, and glamorous American divorcees.

Markle was previously married to film producer Trevor Engelson from 2011 until their divorce in 2014, mirroring Simpson’s status as a divorced woman before her union with Edward VIII.
