Robert De Niro expressed enjoyment attending one of the events for Jennifer Lawrence’s wedding, despite her playful insistence for him to ‘go home’.
The Hollywood icon married art gallerist Cooke Maroney in 2019, and anyone who has experienced marriage knows the tremendous effort involved in orchestrating such a significant occasion.
During the rehearsal dinner for the big day, Jennifer Lawrence was notably concerned about one guest in particular: Robert De Niro.
Her co-star in the films “Silver Linings Playbook,” “American Hustle,” and “Joy,” De Niro attended the rehearsal dinner, yet Lawrence found herself anxious, constantly checking if he was comfortable.
As the host of the evening and the central figure orchestrating the event, it’s your responsibility to ensure everyone is enjoying themselves. However, Lawrence fretted over the fact that De Niro might not have been familiar with many of the other guests.

On the Golden Globes red carpet, she playfully quipped about her decision to give De Niro the option to leave if he wished.
She humorously remarked, “It’s so stressful. You’re not having fun. You’re just like, ‘Is that person having fun?'”
“I’ll never forget – I was freaking out about the guests being cold, and all of my friends were lying, saying, ‘Nobody’s cold, nobody’s cold, everything’s fine, everything’s fine.'”
“I looked over and I saw Bob, who doesn’t know anybody and he’s kind of wandering around, and I immediately thought, ‘No, this isn’t what he wants to be doing. I don’t want him here’.”
“So I went over and whispered, I was like, ‘Go home,’ and he was nice – he talked to my parents and was polite – but I was like, ‘Go.’ That just genuinely made me feel better.”

However, it turns out she needn’t have worried, as De Niro later told People that he’d enjoyed himself, though he didn’t really stay all that long.
He remarked, “I wasn’t… It was acceptable. I mean, I solely attended for that aspect anyway.”
“It was pleasant! It didn’t last that long – perhaps I stayed for about an hour, if even that.”
The two of them share a friendship, and last year Lawrence disclosed that she presented De Niro with a particularly special gift to celebrate the arrival of his seventh child.
She gifted her acting comrade with a “baby nurse,” providing him the opportunity to have a night off and enjoy a decent amount of sleep.
