Sabrina Carpenter faces backlash after simulating X-rated act in middle of concert

Fans were left stunned when Sabrina Carpenter revealed her latest ‘Juno position’ during her performance on stage in Los Angeles. The moment quickly became a topic of conversation among her followers, sparking curiosity and excitement over her bold move.

Sabrina Carpenter has faced online criticism following a performance in which she was accused of “simulating a sex act” on stage.

The viral moment took place during Sabrina Carpenter’s performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on Monday, November 18, as part of her Short n’ Sweet Tour.

This isn’t the first time Carpenter has sparked debate among fans with her provocative performances.

In September at the MTV Awards, Carpenter performed a trio of singles from her latest album Short n’ Sweet. During her performance of “Taste,” she took a brief pause to share a passionate kiss with one of her backup dancers, who was dressed as an alien. The controversy continued with the provocative music video for the single, where Carpenter shared an on-screen kiss with Jenna Ortega as they acted out a love triangle.

During her recent performance of Juno, Carpenter faced criticism from some fans for appearing to simulate a sexual act on stage.

In videos circulating online, the singer can be seen dropping to her knees and seemingly using her microphone in a way that some interpreted as mimicking oral sex.

One commenter on X expressed concern, writing, “We need better role models for children.”

Another person shared their discomfort, stating, “Can she stop sexualizing herself for one minute? LITERAL children are watching this, not only at the concert but also through clips appearing on my nieceโ€™s YouTube.”

Others quickly came to Carpenter’s defense, with one person writing, “She’s an adult and no longer works for the company. She can do whatever she wants.”

Another added, “Itโ€™s her concert. People are there to have fun, and so is she. It’s her right to choose how she wants to have fun at her own show.”

Several others pointed out that Carpenter is an adult and has the freedom to make her own decisions about what happens on stage.

This incident is just the latest in a series of provocative moments during Carpenter’s recent performances. Since the start of her tour on June 20, the singer has been incorporating various suggestive moves into her shows, often singing “Have you ever tried this one?” as part of the act.

Carpenter initially gained fame for her role in the Disney Channel’s Girl Meets World, a spinoff of Boy Meets World. She also performed as an opening act during Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

In an interview with The Guardian in August, Carpenter reflected on her recent chart success: “Full transparency: Iโ€™ve never really been on charts until quite recently, so itโ€™s a newfound, like… Iโ€™m interested,” she said. “Itโ€™s not the reason I write music, and itโ€™s not the reason Iโ€™ll ever write music. Itโ€™s like the sprinkles on top of the sundae.”

Carpenter also shared her perspective on her career, saying, “You start to realize that thereโ€™s more to all of it than just, like, blood, sweat, and tears, and love and talent and passion. There are beautiful sides to this and really dark, weird sides to it all.”

She continued, “I just love doing it โ€“ thereโ€™s sort of a need for it โ€“ and when thatโ€™s the thing thatโ€™s driving you, success doesnโ€™t really matter. Youโ€™re just gonna keep going regardless.”
