Sam Smith makes their runway debut in wild Vivienne Westwood design

Sam Smith surprised audiences by making their first appearance on the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week, leaving a lasting impression.

During Paris Fashion Week, the 31-year-old caught attention by flaunting daring ensembles for Vivienne Westwood’s show, kicking off with an assortment of tartan prints.

Confidently striding down the runway, the star showcased blue and green kilt-inspired briefs, revealing their backside as they walked. Accompanied by a deep V-neck jumper, they accessorized the ensemble with a bold red-and-orange tartan cape and knee-high tartan socks in red-and-black, all complemented by off-blue and orange platform stilettos.

To cap off the ensemble, they wielded a colossal wooden staff in hand, adding an additional layer of dramatic flair to their look.

Smith donned a black cover-up adorned with a silver dotted top and a floor-length jacket sporting a mesh pattern. The strategically placed holes near the thighs and upper arms offered tantalizing glimpses of what lay beneath.

They completed this ensemble with a mesh veil and a wide-rimmed hat that completely concealed their eyes.

Smith has flaunted notable viral appearances in the past, and this isn’t the first instance.

Last February, the Grammy-award-winning star faced significant criticism for their outfit choices during their performance at the Grammys.

During the 65th annual Grammy Awards, Smith and Kim Petras delivered a captivating performance of their Number 1 hit, ‘Unholy,’ on the grand stage.

Following the performance, it faced severe criticism on social media, with numerous individuals branding it “satanic.” This was attributed to both Petras and Smith donning blood-red attire and being encircled by backup dancers portraying the Devil. Smith’s choice of a red top hat adorned with horns only intensified the controversial imagery.

Throughout their Gloria tour, which encompassed multiple dates across 2023, Smith continued to showcase similarly daring fashion choices.

One attire that truly captured attention was Smith’s all-black ensemble, embellished with bold red and gold accents. With a corset and voluminous sleeves, Smith fully embraced a devilish vibe by complementing it with fishnet stockings, knee-high boots, and a top hat adorned with multiple red devil horns. Adding a touch of glamour, they wielded a diamante-encrusted pitchfork, undoubtedly leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

Adding to the bold and provocative ambiance, other standout costumes featured latex briefs matched with a lengthy trailing veil, invoking a religious-core aesthetic. These ensembles made a notable appearance during the performance of Madonna’s hit ‘Human Nature,’ intensifying the intrigue and controversy surrounding Smith’s stage presence.

Smith, celebrated for their chart-topping singles like ‘Stay With Me,’ ‘Too Good at Goodbyes,’ and ‘Unholy,’ has openly discussed the challenges they’ve encountered, particularly after publicly coming out as non-binary in 2019.

In an interview with Zane Lowe on his Apple Music show, they revealed that the most challenging part of coming out was dealing with the overwhelming wave of public criticism.

I think the only negatives in the struggle have been my public life and my job, and the amount of hate and negativity that came my way was just exhausting. It was really hard,โ€ they told Lowe. “This isnโ€™t me sitting at home Googling my name… it was in the news. It was hard not to look. I can deal with not Googling myself, not reading comments.”

“Thatโ€™s something I can control,” they continued. “What people donโ€™t realize with trans-non-binary people in the UK is… itโ€™s happening in the street.”
