Trailer drops for creepy horror movie which is told from the killer’s POV

A chilling preview trailer has been released for an upcoming horror film guaranteed to evoke unsettling sensations.

Horror movies are abundant these days, ranging from a homicidal Winnie the Pooh to malevolent animatronic bears. Despite their financial success, many of these films fail to leave a lasting impression.

However, a forthcoming horror film aims to bring a fresh perspective to the genre with its unique premise and point of view.

Nevertheless, it’s important to note that this film is not for the faint-hearted, and even the most seasoned horror movie enthusiasts might find it challenging.

“In a Violent Nature,” the film that debuted at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, is scheduled for release later this year on the Shudder streaming service (which, like many, I wasn’t familiar with until now).

Shudder is an American over-the-top subscription video service specializing in horror, thriller, and supernatural fiction titles, offering a variety of films and shows within these genres.

What sets “In a Violent Nature” apart is its unconventional approach; rather than focusing on the helpless victims, the film chooses to delve into the perspective of the killer and meticulously portrays their numerous gruesome kills.

The trailer, unveiled on the Rotten Tomatoes Trailers YouTube channel on January 30, maintains a subtle tone yet manages to be deeply unsettling. Viewer discretion is advised. Watch at your own risk:

It commences with a static shot of a pier and a lake, accompanied by quotes from reviews.

The serene image of the lake takes a dark turn as an apparent lifeless body emerges on the surface before abruptly cutting to black. Subsequently, a figure is depicted folding a chain and hook in its hands, interspersed with additional reviews for the film.

Social media users are evidently intrigued by the premise and express eagerness to see the direction taken by director and writer Chris Nash in shaping the film.

“One user expressed, ‘About time we got some slow cinema horror. A slasher film with no score, that follows a mute killer around from kill to kill instead of the teenagers sounds pretty interesting,'” shared a comment on social media.

Another viewer shared their experience, stating, “Saw it at Sundance. The kills stirred up the sold-out theater. I cannot wait to see it again.”

A third comment reflected some uncertainty, stating, “Either a modern horror classic or the next big flop.”

A fourth individual who had an early viewing shared, “I was privileged to view this early. This film has some of the most believable kill sequences and is hands down the most violent film I’ve ever witnessed. Nash is a genius and should not be underestimated. It will not disappoint you.”

A final horror enthusiast chimed in, stating, “The reviews have been good. It’s not reinventing the wheel, but a solid slasher with some great gore effects. Sounds good enough to me.”
