Two sets of twins gave birth to baby boys that have brother genes despite being cousins

Brittany and Briana Salyers are twin sisters who are uniquely married to twin brothers, Josh and Jeremy.

Two sets of twins each had baby boys who share such similar genetics that they seem like brothers, even though they’re actually cousins. It might sound like a mind-bending riddle, but it’s a real-life scenario.

Brittany and Briana Salyers are identical twin sisters who gained significant attention for being married to twin brothers, Josh and Jeremy.

After their weddings in 2018, each couple welcomed their first childrenโ€”both having baby boys. This added to the fascination as people were amazed by how the identical couples were living such remarkably similar lives.

In early 2021, the first couple welcomed their son, Jett, and just a few months later, in April, the second couple had their son, Jax.

It would definitely make things easier if theyโ€™d mixed up the first letters! Itโ€™s almost like they were trying to keep us on our toes.

Itโ€™s understandable if youโ€™re confused about the relationship between Jett and Jax, since they share more genes than typical cousins. However, as theyโ€™ve grown older, itโ€™s become a bit easier to distinguish themโ€”one has noticeably darker hair than the other.

To clarify the boys’ unique relationship, their mothers shared a photo on Instagram with the caption: โ€œJett and Jax: Cousins, Genetic Brothers, and Quaternary Twins!โ€

Quaternary multiples is the term used to describe the offspring of couples made up of two sets of identical twins.

Despite the explanation, many people still struggled to understand the unusual family tree. One person asked, โ€œDoes this mean they have identical DNA?โ€ while another commented, โ€œHow are they genetic brothers exactly?โ€

A third person responded, โ€œTheir mothers and fathers are identical twins. Both sets of parents then had kids, using the same exact DNA. So yes, it makes sense.โ€

Others joined in to clarify, with one saying, โ€œIdentical twins share the same DNA, and since both sets of parents are identical twins, the kids share a lot of genetic material.โ€

Another added, โ€œIf this family took an ancestry DNA test, it would show these babies as siblings, not cousins!โ€

The couples got married in August 2018 with a grand ‘Twice Upon a Time’ joint ceremony at the 2018 Twins Days Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio.

The quartet had previously revealed their desire to get pregnant at the same time in the TLC documentary Our Twinsane Wedding.

Jeremy shared, โ€œWe want to have twins, and we want them to be born on the same day. Weโ€™ll be raising our families together as well. Thatโ€™s something weโ€™re all on the same page about too.โ€

Although their relationships might seem unorthodox to many, they’ve made it clear that there is a boundaryโ€”no partner swapping between the siblings.
