Viewers calling ‘insane’ Netflix series ‘better than Squid Game’ following ‘disappointing’ season 2

The Netflix series is said to feature characters who are “more serious and badass” than those in Squid Game.

A Netflix series is being hailed as “way better” than Squid Game, with some viewers expressing disappointment over the South Korean show’s second season.

The highly anticipated second season of Squid Game, released on December 26 on Netflix, has received a lukewarm response from fans. As a result, some viewers are now on the lookout for another survival-themed series to dive into, hoping to make the otherwise bleak month of January a bit more bearable.

Written by Yoshiki Watabe, Yasuko Kuramitsu, and Shinsuke Sato, and directed by Sato, Alice in Borderland is a sci-fi drama based on the manga series by Haro Aso. The show follows characters who are trapped in an abandoned Tokyo and forced to participate in deadly games in order to survive.

The series stars Kento Yamazaki, Tao Tsuchiya, and Nijirō Murakami. While Alice in Borderland first premiered on Netflix in 2020, it has only recently gained widespread attention, with many viewers taking to social media to share their thoughts and reviews.

Alice in Borderland has earned an impressive 86% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a 91% audience score, with the praise continuing to pour in.

On December 28, just days after the release of Squid Game‘s second season, a Facebook user posted a poster of the show in the LADbible Facebook Group Netflix Bangers, stating, “Agree with me or not but ALICE IN BORDERLAND >> SQUID GAME.”

The post quickly sparked reactions, with others chiming in to share their thoughts.

One user shared, “Better story, stronger characters, and more engaging games. The plot twist was mind-blowing. Overall, Alice in Borderland is way better than Squid Game.”

Another chimed in, “Seriously, Alice in Borderland is insanely good! It deserves the same hype Squid Game got, but sadly, it doesn’t seem to get it.”

A third commenter added, “The characters in Alice in Borderland are way more serious and badass than in Squid Game.”

And a fourth agreed, saying, “After watching Squid Game Season 2, I can confidently say Alice in Borderland is the superior show.”

One user expressed frustration, saying, “Sigh… It’s getting old. Why do we keep pitting two Asian series with survival games against each other when they have so little in common besides that? Can’t we just enjoy both?”

They also added, “On a side note, it’s funny how many people seem to have forgotten the outrage and disappointment over how Alice in Borderland season 2 ended, especially considering it’s clearly inspired by Alice in Wonderland.”
