Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder have opened up about their “marriage” to one another.
Yes, some actors will go a long way to ensure that the scenes they are shooting and the characters they are portraying are as real as possible – but it sounds like Ryder and Reeves may have taken things too far.
You see, back in 1992, the iconic pair both starred alongside each other in Francis Ford Coppola’s camp horror classic, Bram Stoker’s Dracula – based on the 1897 gothic horror novel of the same name.
Coppola’s flick starred Gary Oldman as Count Dracula, Anthony Hopkins as Abraham Van Helsing, Ryder as Elisabeta/Mina Harker, and Reeves as Jonathan Harker.
It is during the ’92 film that Reeves and Ryder’s characters are married in a religious ceremony. However, in Coppola’s typical strive for realism – even in a film about a blood-sucking vampire – the priest hired for the film was actually a genuine man of the cloth.
In a previous interview withย Esquire, 59-year-old Reeves said: “We did a whole take of a marriage ceremony with real priests. Winona says we are. Coppola says we are. So I guess we’re married under the eyes of God.”
Ryder, 52, also commented on her three-decade-long marriage to the Matrix star, tellingย Entertainment Weeklyย back in 2018: “We actually got married in Dracula.”
