He knew they’d experienced a breakup before getting married, so there was no need to worry.
A woman has shared the story of how her ex-boyfriend sustained a head injury that caused him to forget their breakup, leading to them eventually getting back together.
In February 2020, Jenna ended her relationship with Mitchell because she felt ‘too overwhelmed by life.’
However, just one day later, Mitchell was in an accident that left him badly concussed. As a result, he had no memory of the breakup they had just gone through.
The break-up and accident
The day after the breakup, Mitchell went skiing at Beaver Mountain in Utah.
It was there that he suffered an accident, resulting in a serious concussion that erased his memory of the breakup.
The 22-year-old attempted to “go off a jump,” Jenna told People, but the conditions were “super icy.”
As he launched off the jump, he landed on his head and blacked out.
When Mitchell woke up after suffering a severe concussion, he had no memory of Jenna breaking up with him. Confused, he called her, asking if she could come pick him up.
The confusing aftermath
Jenna explained, “Mitch kept messaging me and trying to hang out after his concussion, and I was confused as to why he would keep reaching out since we had broken up.”
She continued, “I thought maybe he took the idea of staying friends really seriously. It even got to the point where, when I told him my roommates and I had a hard day, he brought us ice cream.”
Realizing she regretted her decision to break up with Mitchell, Jenna nervously swallowed her pride and asked if they could try dating again.
It was only then that they both realized Mitchell had no memory of their breakup to begin with.
Jenna explained that she had told Mitchell about the breakup and what had been discussed when they were in her car, deciding to end the relationship.
“He told me he didnโt remember any of that except for chatting in the car,” she continued. “But he didnโt remember what we chatted about.”
Thankfully, Mitchell found it “super funny” that he’d forgotten the breakup, and Jenna noted she felt “relieved.”
She added, “It made it easy to get back together because, to him, we never werenโt together!”
The happy ending
The couple got engaged five months later and married in September 2020.
Jenna shared, “During my husbandโs speech, he brought up not remembering the breakup, but how grateful he is that everything worked out in the end.”
She added, “We are both 27 now, and when people ask us about our love story, it’s our favorite part to tell. We really felt invisible strings pulling us together all along.”
