Woman who fell through window trying to break into house comes forward on national television

If you caught This Morning earlier today, you witnessed the woman who amusingly tumbled through a window narrate her perspective on the incident – although identifying her may have been a challenge with her attire on.

The video capturing Lisa Rowland’s comical mishap from June 20th last year has gained widespread attention in recent days, prompting her to revisit the incident. In the footage, she hilariously toppled through a transom window, finding herself stuck upside down with her chest exposed on national television. It was undoubtedly a memorable day.

Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary struggled to contain their laughter as they interviewed the mom on Friday morning (2 February) to unravel the story of how she found herself ‘hanging like a bat’ in front of her entire street.

The incident is likely familiar to the majority of social media users, given that it has garnered over 20 million views and has been shared across every online platform imaginable.

Rowland, joined by her sister and supportive companion, also named Lisa, recounted that last summer, she set out to do the school run, take her dog to the vets, and go shopping. However, halfway through her supermarket visit, she found herself in need of a restroom break.

During her This Morning appearance, when questioned about why she didn’t use the restroom before leaving, she quipped, “I don’t think that far ahead – as we can see.”

After hurrying home to attend to her urgent need, the mom was struck with horror when she realized she had left her house keys inside, all the while anxiously crossing her legs on the doorstep.

However, Rowland then identified a window of opportunity, which she claimed was the ‘only option’ for her to gain access to her property.

She devised a plan with her sister Lisa, involving getting a boost from the windowsill and slipping through the open window, while her sibling comically balanced one of her legs on her shoulders.

However, as she was lifted upward, it quickly became apparent that her legs wouldn’t fold through as she had anticipated.

Wearing a bandeau maxi dress, Rowland encountered difficulty in sliding through as planned, finding herself stuck halfway in and halfway out of the small window. That’s when things took a turn for the worse.

This predicament occurred because the fabric of her dress got entangled in the commotion, causing it to descend and leaving her upside down with her exposed chest on full display—all while Aretha Franklin’s “I Say A Little Prayer” played in the background.

Her sister Lisa found herself doubled over in amusement as she witnessed her sister suspended in mid-air with her chest exposed. Lisa admitted she had to abandon any attempts to assist as soon as ‘the left one’ also emerged from inside the dress.

“When I turned around and caught sight of her attire revealing more than expected, it was as if… I was utterly speechless,” Lisa chuckled.

Reflecting on the incident, Rowland shared with This Morning, “I attempted to readjust [her breast]. If you observe closely, I made an effort while suspended, and then both… I just let go of everything.”

It appears that she indeed relinquished all control, including that of her bladder.

She informed Alison and Dermot, saying, “I urinated. Yes, I did. I couldn’t move; I was suspended like a bat. When I descended to the ground drenched in urine, I believe I had surpassed the point of panic! I think I had exceeded every conceivable limit.”

Lisa added, “She emerged from the house, and she was literally saying, ‘It’s gone down my neck.’ I couldn’t breathe; there was nothing I could do.”

When questioned about whether she had also lost control of her bladder, the sister responded with a ‘no comment’ – but it’s understandable if she did find herself in that situation given the circumstances.

Fortunately for all of us, Lisa’s significant other chose to record the entire event, anticipating that it could unfold in one of two ways. Interestingly, it wasn’t either of them who later posted the video online.

Rowland clarified that she was oblivious to its circulation until she received a phone call exclaiming, “You’re all over Facebook!”

Continuing, she expressed, “I didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or fabricate a story. Witnessing the abundance of positive comments and the overall response, everyone seems to be embracing the laughter! I thoroughly enjoy a good dose of laughter. If it brings joy through laughter, it’s all positive.”

“We refrained from posting it on any social media platforms; instead, we shared it among my mom’s friends. A woman—thank you, Ruth, in Northern Ireland! We’re unfamiliar with her, and we have no idea how she obtained it. Nonetheless, we appreciate Ruth; it has turned into a pleasant day for us.”

To prevent a recurrence of a similar situation, Rowland has taken to wearing her house keys on an elastic around her neck. The experience of being propelled through a window while soaked in her own urine is something she hopes to avoid for a lifetime.
