The world’s oldest person, who lived to 117, revealed the remarkable habits she followed to achieve such a long life.
Maria Branyas Morera, a Spanish supercentenarian, passed away on Monday, August 19. Despite experiencing some hearing loss and mobility issues, local media reported that she maintained a sharp memory throughout her remarkably long life.
The woman was notably active on X, a remarkable feat for the eighth-oldest person in recorded history. In addition to sharing in December 2022 about the daily food she consumed, she offered various tips on how others might strive to live as long as she did.
โStrongโ family connections
Earlier this year, Branyas reflected on how she felt โluckyโ to have had her loved ones by her side.
She wrote, โStrong, rich, and caring family ties act as a cushion against loneliness.โ
So, there you have it, folks: take care of those who care for you and stay social, as it might help you live a longer lifeโsomething that studies have also supported.
Avoiding excess
Although she ate her specific item daily, the Spanish woman never adhered to a strict diet.
She wrote on X: โMany people ask me what diet I follow to live so long. Iโve always eaten a little of everything, but Iโve never followed any specific regime. I havenโt suffered from any illness or had to undergo surgery.โ
Consuming yogurt daily
Branyas attributes much of her longevity to having a serving of natural yogurt each day.
She shared on X that it is “a lifelong food with countless positive benefits for the body.”
The supercentenarian also referenced a Bulgarian study that suggests regular yogurt consumption can prolong life and mentioned that, according to Persian tradition, Abraham’s longevity was attributed to eating yogurt.
Steering clear of toxic individuals
Amen sister.
In addition to maintaining a strong connection with family and friends and staying in touch with nature, Branyas emphasized the importance of staying “away from toxic people.” After all, nobody wants negativity in their life, especially for over a century.
Maintaining a positive outlook and living without regrets
Another lesson from Branyas is the emphasis she placed on “emotional stability, a lack of worries and regrets, and an abundance of positivity.”
Well, that doesnโt all sound too hard, does it?
