A celebrity “lookalike” known for her resemblance to Angelina Jolie stunned fans when she unveiled her true appearance after being released from prison.
Sahar Tabar, who gained fame in 2017 and was dubbed the “zombie Angelina Jolie” due to her striking appearance, has now revealed her true looks.
After rising to online fame, Sahar Tabar was arrested by Iranian authorities in October 2019 as part of a broader crackdown on social media influencers by law enforcement.
She was later charged with blasphemy, inciting violence, earning income through inappropriate means, and promoting the corruption of youth.
In December 2020, she was sentenced to ten years in prison but was reportedly granted a conditional release after serving 14 months while awaiting her sentencing.
Tabar’s appearance on the state-owned channel Rokna left many viewers shocked by her real appearance.
Revealing her true face, which appears neither as emaciated nor cartoon-like as her online persona, Tabar explained, โMy mother was telling me to stop, but I didnโt listen.โ
โSometimes, the words of a stranger or a friend can carry more weight than those of a parent.โ
Commenting on Tabar’s appearance, one person wrote on social media: โItโs astonishing how much effort people invest in criticizing what others do just to feel comfortable in their own skin.โ
“If people were less inclined to bad-mouth and judge others, maybe fewer individuals would feel pressured to change their appearance.”
โItโs really disheartening to see how far some people will go just to gain fameโฆโ
“Tabar has since come forward, revealing that her previous cartoonish appearance was the result of Photoshop, makeup, and editing. She has also admitted to manipulating and editing some of the original viral photos from 2017.”
“Tabar was quoted as saying, ‘What you saw on Instagram was the result of computer effects I used to create that image.'”
“Cyberspace was a simpler path. It was much easier than pursuing a career as an actor.”
“She has also acknowledged that some of her appearance is due to cosmetic surgery, admitting to having a nose job and lip fillers.”
Tabar explained that she often edited her pictures to “amuse herself,” telling Russian news outlet Sputnik: “Now I can see some resemblance to [Angelina Jolie], but I do it for my own amusement. Looking like someone else is not my goal.”
“Over time, I post photos where I make my face look more playful and humorous. Itโs a form of self-expression, a kind of art.”
